Our Commitment
We are committed to making Saunafinder.fi accessible to everyone, regardless of ability. We believe that all users should have equal access to our platform and the authentic Finnish sauna experiences we help them discover.
Accessibility Features We Provide
Saunafinder.fi is built with accessibility in mind. The following features are currently available:
- Mobile-responsive design — the site works seamlessly on all screen sizes and devices, from smartphones to desktop computers
- Keyboard navigation — browsing, filtering, and booking can be done using the Tab key and Enter/Space to activate buttons, without requiring a mouse. The interactive map is a known exception (see Known Limitations below)
- Clear focus indicators — keyboard users see a visible outline showing which element is currently focused
- Form labels — all form fields (name, email, booking details) are properly associated with their labels for clarity and screen reader support
- Semantic HTML — the site uses semantic HTML structure with navigation landmarks, headings, and native button and link elements
- Alt text on images — images carry alt text, but coverage is currently incomplete: many listings do not yet have photos, and some existing alt texts are generic placeholders rather than real descriptions (see Known Limitations below)
- Color contrast — text and interactive elements meet WCAG AA standards for color contrast, making them readable for users with low vision or color blindness
- Readable typography — font sizes are 16px or larger on mobile and 18px or larger on desktop, with sufficient line spacing (1.5+) for readability
- Plain language — we use clear, simple sentences and avoid unnecessary jargon to make the site easy to understand
- Dialog accessibility — our booking modal includes proper ARIA attributes and can be closed with the Escape key
Standards We Target, and Assistive Technology
We target the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA. We do not claim full conformance yet: an internal review against these guidelines was completed on 11 August 2026, and fixes from it are being rolled out (see the review status below).
We have not yet tested Saunafinder.fi with screen readers or other assistive technology, so we do not claim compatibility with any specific product. Structured testing with screen readers (such as NVDA and VoiceOver) is planned once the current round of fixes has shipped, and we will report the results on this page.
The site is designed to work with browser zoom (up to 200%) and with high-contrast browser extensions and operating system themes.
Accessibility Review Status
Last reviewed: 11 August 2026. An internal accessibility review of the whole site was carried out on 11 August 2026. It found real problems — including missing form field labels, hidden keyboard focus outlines, keyboard-order issues in the booking dialogs, and some text colours below WCAG AA contrast — and fixes for these are being deployed. The issues we know still remain are listed under Known Limitations below. We will update this page as they are resolved.

Known Limitations
We are aware of the following areas where accessibility could be improved:
- Embedded map — the Leaflet map used to display sauna locations cannot be fully operated with a keyboard and has limited screen reader support for navigating individual map pins. Every sauna shown on the map is also available in the regular listing pages, which do not have this limitation
- Listing photos and alt text — many listings do not yet have photos, some existing alt texts are generic placeholders, and images supplied by sauna operators may not always include detailed descriptions
- Untranslated content — the Finnish language switcher currently translates only the navigation and footer; page content, including these legal and policy pages, is available in English only
- Third-party payment processing — the Stripe checkout process is hosted on Stripe's domain and follows their accessibility practices
We are working to improve these areas over time.

Legal Remedies
If we are unable to resolve an accessibility issue within 30 days, you may have the right to lodge a complaint with your national accessibility authority:

- EU: Your country's national accessibility enforcement body under the European Accessibility Act (Directive 2019/882)
